Yastia is a translation from the Bulgarian “yummy”. “Balkans” is already understandable. Together, Balkansky Yastia is a family-owned production, restaurant and tasting room for unique national jerky products and local traditional spices. In addition to tasting a collection of these goodies, you yourself can take part in their manufacture (you will be allowed into the shop and the secrets of local recipes will be whispered) and your own museum of national costume and household items will also be there. Usually the owner or his wife meets and tells. And that means, according to tradition, they are greeted with wine and savory!
It also offers a delicious Bessarabian lunch according to all the traditions of the region.
For centuries Izmayil was a key point in global politics, being a kind of key for the great river of Danube. That’s why it was an intersection of ancient Greek, Rome, Osmanian, Tartarian, Rumanian, Russian, Ukrainian and loads of other cultures.
Izmayil nowadays is an incredibly beautiful city: great river, picture-postcard temples (three of that we’ll visit through the tour), one of the biggest dioramas, the richest museum of Southern Ukraine – and that’s only a small part of our tour.
The highlight of our tour will be excursion to the wine-vault of one of the greatest local manufactures. Seven types of wine with a guided hand of a professional sommelier at the end of the day – what could be better?
